Three Months Later

“What is going on, Tyler?”

He’s looking at me innocently enough, but I can tell he’s nervous.

“Everything has been happening at a snail’s pace. I asked you to marry me, you put me off, wanting me to be sure. I asked you to move in with me, and you put me off because you’re afraid I’m going to change my mind. Well, I’m done waiting, so I took care of it.”

“What do you mean, you took care of it?”

He shrugs his shoulders. “I took care of it.”

He holds his arm out and gestures toward the staircase. I still can’t get used to this massive house. I swear the first time I was here I got lost from the bathroom to the kitchen. You about need a map to find anything.

I look up the staircase, and that’s one place I do know my way around. Up there is where Tyler’s bedroom is, and I’ve spent plenty of time there the last few months. I put my hands on my hips. “What did you do?”

“Go and see for yourself,” he challenges me.

I grab the banister and walk up the stairs, not stopping until I’ve reached the closed door of his bedroom. He’s right behind me. I can feel his heat at my back and his breath on my neck. His hands go to my shoulders. “There’s no turning back, honey.”

A chill runs down my spine, and I slowly open the door. I gasp and put my hands over my mouth. His room that is usually immaculate is haphazard. There are boxes everywhere. I stride into the room and recognize my comforter is now on his bed, and all the boxes have my name on them with labels of what’s inside.

“You might as well see it all,” he says, pointing toward the closet.

I march over and pull the doors open. On one side are his clothes, and the other has mine. All the clothes from my closet at home are now here, hanging in his closet.

“What have you done?”

“I didn’t know how to convince you. You were so worried about me changing my mind or that this isn’t what I want. Well, I’m done. I love you, Jamie. I want you by my side as my wife, as the mother of my child, all of it. I want it all.”

“Is this your proposal?” I ask him.

He jerks a little box out of his front pocket and pulls the ring out of the box. He lifts my hand and puts the beautiful, breathtaking ring on my finger. “No. I’m done asking. Now I’m telling. I can’t live without you, baby. I love you. You’re marrying me.”

I’m in awe, looking at the ring on my finger as Tyler’s arms go around me. “I love you, Tyler. I just wanted you to be sure.”

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

“Okay, so there’s something I should probably tell you.”

“What is it?” he asks impatiently. “Unless it’s a Yes, honey, I want to marry you, I don’t know if I want to hear it.
